The Remuera Business Association is adding heritage plaques to buildings in the Remuera shops. Remuera Heritage has researched the history and background of the buildings and added full details and images to the RH website. The plaques include a QR code which can be scanned by a smartphone to connect to the RBA website for more information.
Buildings with plaques are the current Remuera Library, the old Remuera Library site which is now Browns, the old Remuera Fire Station in the village green and the Banque restaurant which housed the old Bank of New Zealand.

These windows came from England as a gift from Alfred Bell, glassmaker to Her Majesty Queen Victoria, who owed his illustrious career to Albin Martin, who had given him drawing and painting lessons as a boy in England and set him on his path. In order to ensure that the church building and windows are properly preserved the parish vestry has employed heritage architects to oversee the work that needs to be done.
Remuera Heritage held nine events in 2017 – a hard act to follow!
