Francis Ernest Crowhurst was born on 25 November 1886 to Samuel George Crowhurst and Catherine Elizabeth Crowhurst (Breen). They lived at 24 Eden Street Newmarket Auckland. He was one of five sons who served in WW1, three of whom died. They were Arthur Frederick Livingstone (24/99) died; Francis Ernest (60080) killed in action, and Samuel Alfred (12/1933) killed in action. Click Here to Read More
Arthur Crowhurst was born on 20 May 1894, to Samuel George and Catherine Crowhurst, 24 Eden Street in Newmarket, Auckland. He was one of five sons who served in WW1, three of whom died. Arthur contracted meningitis at Trentham training camp and died on 8 August 1915, aged 20 years. Click Here to Read More
Edgar Harvey (Hervey) Robertson was born 20 August 1896 and attended King's College in Remuera. He was a clerk with L D Nathan & Son on enlistment. Edgar was killed in action on 24 October 1917 at Ypres, Belgium, aged 21. Click Here to Read More
Samuel Alfred Crowhurst was born on 14 July 1890 in Onehunga, and was the third son of Samuel George Crowhurst and Catherine Elizabeth Crowhurst (Breen), who had eleven sons and three daughters. On 27 June 1917, he was awarded the Military Medal, for acts of gallantry in the field. He was killed in action 21 August 1917 in Ypres, Belgium & is buried at Mud Corner. Click Here to Read More
William Buchanan of Victoria Avenue, Remuera, was killed in an air accident in England - his plane proceeded to take off, but on lifting off, banked steeply to the left and side-slipped into the ground. Almost immediately the overturned monoplane burst into flames. He died on the 7 June 1916 from injuries received. Click Here to Read More
