T J McNamara on the Poetry and Painting of the Great War


Come and hear T J McNamara talk on Poetry and Painting of the Great War. 

He will talk about Gallipoli and Messines Ridge, including his uncle who fought at Messines and whose name is on the memorial there. TJ will read some poetry and talk about the war artists of WW1. He has also started a blog at . 

 Terence James McNamara MNZM, MA, Dip Tch. He is writer and lecturer with a long career as a teacher, sometime producer and actor. His knowledge of European and American art history and a unique knowledge of art in New Zealand since the 1960s is the result of more than fifty years of consistent reviewing of art in galleries in Auckland for The New Zealand Herald. He has also written periodically about works in the great galleries of Europe and America. He sees his blog as a way of sharing of responses and ideas to a wide range of contemporary painting and sculpture. 

*TJ works in conjunction with ARTEXPLORE when taking Saturday walks around Auckland’s galleries and giving lectures on aspects of art and art history.
