New Zealand History - should it be compulsory in schools?

The N Z History Federation has forwarded details of a petition to the government by the N Z History Teachers’ Association to “pass legislation that would make compulsory the coherent teaching of our own past across appropriate year levels in our schools, with professional development and resources to do so provided.” Let’s get New Zealand history properly taught. Over 2,500 people have signed the petition so far. The petition closes on the 31st March 2019 – you can find the petition here to have your say if you think it's a good idea to have New Zealand history taught in schools.
