Our guest speaker will be Gabrielle Fortune presenting
“A Flotilla of War Brides”
Gabrielle, a research fellow in the History Dept of Auckland University, will present an illustrated talk about romance and marriage during World War 2, when many women married foreign servicemen. She will describe the journeys the women made to join their husbands and fiancés and the challenges they faced settling into a new country.
